Imo some of the entered beats only somehow fit the rules since they seem to just have put in a few extra bars at the start, but "logically" the snare is still is placed at 2 and 4 in the groove..
sort of agree on naturelleboombap: you can hear it as hitting on 3, but the groove is also easily felt with snare on 2 and 4 in halftime (dope beat though).
thanks for your feedback guys. i can mark the beat as a "non entry" if it doesn`t stick to the rules.
maybe super_sen wants to clarify that?

Decided to experiment and see what kind of drums you can program without a snare, just kicks, hats and claps. Played the synth horns, everything else was sampled from the radio tracks and filtered into oblivion. Fun, but tough set of samples and rules to work with. Great challenge this week.

OK so first of all, sorry for apparently making this one extra hard :)
To @naturelleboombap - yes I also hear the snare on the 3 - and yes, @per.du also has a point that this ist "just" half-time. But it is a workaround that is fine to me.
Here´s why:
I feel like discarding this beat would make the whole round pretty much impossible and no fun as it would also kill the "snare allowed on the 3".
So I ask you all to just look into your DAW, no matter what BPM you use - and if you use a snare on the 2 or 4, please move it slighty ;-)
Just find yourself a workaround with other percussive elements or - as naturelleboombap did - going for a beat in the lower BPM section where a slow two can be considered a 3.

I hope this clarified it good enough. Have fun! I´ll try to finish my own piece soon in this pretty busy week. Take care.

Here´s my entry for this week. The samples were challenging indeed but fun.
I chopped vocals out of billy eilish, put it over a slowed down bassline from the other sample. then i started to work with the acapella.
Currently I´m experimenting with 808s and the 808 melody with the bassline was quite an accident. I tried to work with tension and release by blending the bassline in and out in contrast to the vocal chops.

as it would also kill the "snare allowed on the 3".
Not really imo - because there is a logical 1 and time signature in a beat, you can't just call your 4 your 3 and call it a day :D

But since its you not me hosting this weeks battle I'll be quiet from now on :P

Edit: removed middle part because seen as inappropriate.

So first time getting in on the battle officially, talk about throwing yourself in the deep end the samples were mad!

Yo what's good people?
Hope everyone is keeping busy or back at work and getting into a some sort of routine.

I had a Productive day in the garden, hedge trimming, clearing, tiding and repotting....
Some pretty cool samples to work with, :hmm:
loads of cool stuff, I quickly mashed up something this evening after dinner. :D :weed:

Just the samples used and some drums with the snares on the 3... ;)

:salute: :vulcan: :peace:

Peace. MOX
