STBB #611 - International Incident

Sat Nov 17, 2018 7:00 am

STBB #611

STBB #610's winner elan vital is busy travelling today so asked me if I could post this weeks comp up. :D

There are a few STBB regulars currently travelling across the world today as well so let's all go international and use non-English records and samples from around the world.

Along with some vintage records from from Japan, Bulgaria and Germany to flip, i've pulled together a pack of over 50 vintage 'ethnic' instrument and vox chops sampled from records from all over the globe for us to jam with.

Image

RULES
  • Flip at least one of the provided tracks.
  • Prominently use at least one instrument sample from the ethnic chops pack.
  • Accapellas allowed, but only non-English!
  • Use of external samples/synths/instruments allowed, but should they need to be in line with the theme of this weeks STBB.
  • No time limit.
  • One entry per person.
Samples download

FINEPRINT
  • Upload your beat to Soundcloud, include "STBB ###“ in the title, and post in this forum by Wednesday Midnight, Pacific time.
  • Give feedback and you will receive it back.
  • For easy browsing's sake tracks will be reposted and added to a weekly playlist here: https://soundcloud.com/stbbcollection
  • Label entries that are posted after the deadline as 'late entry' and entries that don't comply with the rules as: 'non-entry' in your track title.
  • Vote in the designated thread by Friday at Midnight, Pacific time
  • Winner: post new sample, rules, etc by Saturday Noon, Pacific time and upload the samples using https://wetransfer.com
I can't wait to hear what everyone cooks up. Have fun! 8-)

Really happy with the result of this one. I've always wanted to make a French hip hop track so here we go...

I used Hiroshi Suzuki - Kuro To Shiro for the bass line, and I used some of the guitar samples (highly processed) for the pads, and of course added those dope French rhymes. 8-)

One thing I love about these beat battles is that you guys curate the best sample packs, most of which permanently end up staying in my master samples folder.

Hey All, Fantastic samples to work with guys, I will probably be using those samples for a while. My entry uses some chops of chants from Africa.

Peace, Hugh
