STBB #734 - March on

STBB #734

Image

I had almost no sleep last night, so I am unable to figure out something super special. There is a track called Fitta happier by Quakers that I always liked, cause it sampled a marching band that covered Radiohead. So that's where this is going, at least a little bit:

RULES:
Flip the marching band best of (title: PoA - Best of) AND at least one of the other provided samples.
To be more restrictive, don't use ANY outside material. Only exceptions: kick & bass (need a low-end warranty).

3-Minute Time Limit
One entry per person

SAMPLES:

The Fine Print
Upload your beat to Soundcloud, include "STBB 734 “ in the title, and POST TO THIS FORUM by Wednesday at Midnight, Pacific time.
Try to leave as much feedback as you can and you will receive it back.
For easy browsing's sake, you can also go to the STBB page: soundcloud.com/stbbcollection
Label entries that are posted after the deadline as 'late entry' and entries that don't comply with the rules as: 'non-entry' in your track title.
EVERYONE VOTES - by Friday at Midnight, Pacific time
Winner: post new sample, rules, etc by Saturday at Noon, Pacific time and upload the sample here: wetransfer.com/

PS: There are some cool suggestions in the back-up thread, including some great samples. But I have the feeling that we do get more copyright problems with some digital recognition. So I don't really wanna rip music files directly from youtube. Maybe that's paranoid, dunno. My original genius plan was to record something from vinyl. But sadly my turntable is broken (well, the needle, but still...).

First Congratulations on the win! That made a nice story with the last minute entry!

Interesting samples! No outside drums is a bit a challenge for me ;) Did you screen record the Marching band? There is some blip at 3:54 which sounds like an incoming message :P

Sure did :D my bad, fixed it. The source is no secret, it's the Arizona University marching band, they have a 2017-2019 best of, I just took that.

Well, there's a kick you can use, and there should be snares and stuff in the samples!

i used a part of the PoA-Sample and took drums (except the kick) and vocal cuts out of the other provided samples - i splittet the stems with an online-tool - and added some bass to the track - no other stuff, except eq-ing, filtering, etc...

only kick and bass
so no hats, no cymbals, no other drum samples, right?

Here's my entry. All the sounds I used (except the bass) come from the samples.

@checkthevibe - I think outside cymbals and hats won't pass, you need to extract it from the samples.

Yo what's good people?
Hope everyone is keeping well.

Dope samples and rules this week.
Cooked up my entry this evening after having a little chilled roll around on the old whizz plank.
I used the "Erma Franklin" - "Can't see my way" sample to go with the marching band chops.
real quick flip. Found some marching drum bits I liked, matched the bpm to 73, pitched the second sample down to match the tempo, and added some drums.
