STBB#731 - G-Funk Week:

I've been listening to a lot of G-Funk this week. Let's make some G-Funk. :keyboard:

Rules:
Create a G-Funk style production.
To up the ante a bit you must include chops from all of the provided samples. They should all be in the same scale (But perhaps they're not, which is where your chopping finesse comes into play).

No: Other outside music samples. No full Acapellas
Yes: Outside drums and bass, played instruments, VST, vocal chops

SAMPLES: https://we.tl/t-dIK3jzNtmS

The Fine Print
Upload your beat to Soundcloud, include "STBB 731 “ in the title, and POST TO THIS FORUM by Wednesday at Midnight, Pacific time.
Try to leave as much feedback as you can and you will receive it back.
For easy browsing's sake, you can also go to the STBB page: soundcloud.com/stbbcollection
Label entries that are posted after the deadline as 'late entry' and entries that don't comply with the rules as: 'non-entry' in your track title.
EVERYONE VOTES - by Friday at Midnight, Pacific time
Winner: post new sample, rules, etc by Saturday at Noon, Pacific time and upload the sample here: wetransfer.com/

The rhythm is the bass and the bass is the treble

Hi everybody!

Newbie here! Following this forum already since a while and have to say that you guys really got an amazing community here and pumping out every week creative and quality music!!!

Here is my try to sound as g-funkish as possible ;)

Made entirely on the iPad using Beatmaker 3 for chopping and arranging and Korg Gadget for drums, bass and synth... I used all 4 samples, but that jazzy one was difficult for me and I just took a small chunk and kind of hid it in the background behind those vocals a bit...

Have a nice one!

What's up people??

Cool theme this week, Ive never really done a G Funk type beat before. :hmm:
I managed to get all the samples in there, some loop work and single cuts, added just some out side drums and some filter and automation work.

:salute: :vulcan: :peace:
Peace Mox. :blunted:

Quick question, does this include my own written&recorded vocals?

Had to check some videos to get some of these elements just right...learned some techniques while I was at it. Coupe sample makes up the chord/notes, Jeff is used in the break down and the others should be obvious.

Holy smokes, that was difficult AF. 187 on the dude, who made those rules

Learned a lot about the genre though. Flexitone is my new fav. instrument. :headphone:

Yes, that included your own vocals too. No verses. Drops and lines are allowed. Save the verse for next week :-)

Had this little talk with Kongchain on insta..
thought it would be funny to post it here :)

K:
Question: could we find something else that ST could be short for? So they Battles could get a name again other than STBB?
Has that been discussed before?

J:
yes.. we deliberated on the matter
I had suggested Stolen Thrown

K:
Stolen Thrown is doooope!

J:
a bunch of other ideas came bubbling up
but we decide to just let it be
you had an idea?

K:
No concrete idea, it would just be cool to be able to tell people a name for the Beat Battle when I'm out in the real world
When people ask what this battle thing I'm doing is.

J:
aha..
basically you can still call it Stones Throw Beat Battle Forever
but now that I think about it..
it sounds SenTimental.. Beat Battle Forever

K:
Dont wanna call it Stones Throw after they kicked us out ;-)
They shouldn't be mentioned in the same sentence as this awesome community!

J:
yes.. that was our sentiment too.

Sans Title Beat Battle.. Forever ;)

Keepin' the ST.. Gappa found us again after 4 years..
