the in-browser synths I´m talking about are the ones included within Apotome, which are DX7 and Oberheim synth Emulations. Apotome gives you the option to send midi to whereever so people theoretically could have used whatever synths / vsts they wanted. I put that rule in place to (hopefully) even the playing field a bit.
ok bear with me im still confused. i'd need to send midi from ableton to this browser synth deal?
No worries at all man....Nope all the sounds are contained within Apotome. If you scroll down to the instrument tab : https://imgur.com/a/99fq8TF
you´ll find the options for sounds : Basic Synth, Karplus-Strong, OBXD, DEXED (Dx7 emulator) and Yoshimi. Theres also an option to send Midi Out, which means you would be able to send the sequencer to Ableton and use whatever VST / Synth you liked. The rule I put in place is to prevent people doing that and only using the synths i listed just there

Joa you should be able to get some sounds going initially by pressing these 3 buttons :

There are play buttons on each track and then a master play button aswell, which can be confusing...but if you press the randomize button it should randomize all parameters and start spitting out something
ohhhhh ok i didnt understand that i needed to hit add track and click randomize.

yea this is much easier than it seemed

Yessss, now we´re moving!

this....is a lot.

while i cant say i'm not interested in what yall might come up with i rly just want some samples to flip and the rules as to how i should flip them. having to watch a tutorial to participate is going to deter most people i feel like but hey, winners rules....i'll have to sit this one out tho.

i'll be checking back to listen for sure.
true indeed. I love Brian Eno, I don't want to be either Eno or john Cage.
And you actually need to learn 2 programs running in parallel to make it work,

Sorry you´re not feeling the challenge man. And yeah I guess if I´m doing this I wouldn´t be aiming to submit something that sounds like Eno, or anything avant garde, but using that as my source material to make something more conventionally hip hop.

I think a great example is Dilla sampling Henry Kaiser on a few of his beats : https://www.whosampled.com/Henry-Kaiser ... rful-Life/

It wouldnt be my personal choice of something to play to relax too lol , I wouldnt call it easy listening. But it shows there are ways to take something leftfield like that, tame it and make it something that resonates with a lot more people.

as for this theres a handy Chrome extension that records audio from the browser : https://chromewebstore.google.com/detai ... gbmkjnpjgc

If you´re using another browser let me know and I´ll try find an equivalent :vulcan:

interesting challenge! heres the final idea

this is what i originally made, then turned down the bpm and changed the kick pattern to get the above idea

heres what i originally sampled from apatome

and this from the google infinite drum machine thing

i just screen recorded with obs and then converted to mp3 like a caveman lol

apatome is easy to get going tho just hit play and click randomize on the track to get it to make sound then mess around with the settings and change the instrument. click to add more tracks or whatever you want. i just got it to make something and then sampled it

not as confusing as it seems

man that is some stellar work in such a short amount of time, giving me early FlyLo LA vibes! props for recording the process too:

Yo

What's good people?
Chilled Monday afternoon cook up.

I used the sample pack sound ARABIC HARP 2 sample
pitched it up +24
chopped it up.

Low end from the original non pitched sample.
Added drums with no Quantization, keeping as much human element to it.
EQ's and compressors on the drums and sample tracks.
Vinyl FX added from my SP 404 SX
Scratches added using my SC 500
88 BPM

:salute: :vulcan: :peace:
Peace Mox

Thank you. :D

I made the beat in logic 8, used my akai mpd32 controller for the beat, and sample chops.

I have a SP 404 SX hooked up to the sound card so I can record the audio in from that.
I then have my SC 500 going through the line in on the SP. so that goes straight in to Logic too.

The SC 500 is a lot of fun, you can easily add your own tracks to the SD card for either playback or scratching.
you can have the scratch tracks playing or stopped and you can still make noise.
If you have a portable speaker with a jack on it you can just plug that in to the SC 500

No on off button for it. I use a usb power pack to run it. Just plug it in to turn it on/off.

Solid build, just don't go throwing it about.
hmmm, hard to say if it's worth the price at 250 euros.
But if you want something that takes up less space then a turntable and a mixer defo worth it.

It does say on the website there's restock coming Feb/March...?

https://portablismgear.com/sc1000/devices/sc500.html

They have a option to sign up for news about new stuff....

Yeah similarly I have the SPmkii, started off using it standalone but I just use it for the FX / compressor nowaydays. Putting samples through it into ableton add a nice sheen for me

Yeah its definitely cheaper than a Technics, Decent Mixer, Serato & the box / dongle that goes with it....all that for the sole purpose of scratching is a lot....Good to know its coming back in stock
