Congrats Nan!

question..
after last week Elan writingthe same:
no full aca..
just parts..do you consider own raps as aca?.. as it's taylored to the music.
if so, how much would a part be?
if/when I rap, I can leave out rhyme words so you can fill in the blanks ;)..

ah, cool!.. thanks for clarifying..

on the ten songs: no critcism at all..
personally I'm a fan of flipping 1 varied track with different bits to choose from and see how everybody get's on with the same thing..
( and outside embellishing samples allowed )
danger being they're gonna sound similar though.

cheers!

I just meant no full acapellas from other artists used to create a full remix of a song (It was my understanding this could cause complications with Survival of the Freshest)
Nope, that is not part of the rules and guidelines and the beat battle always comes first. Please only ever consider setting rules for the battles based on the free and open competition that has existed for over 10 years.

Any criteria set for the "Survival of the Freshest Compilation" is completely independent of the beat battle. Winning artists will be asked if they want to take part in the compilation and any copyright issues can be worked out at that point. Again, I stress the comp has nothing to do with the weekly running of the beat battle it is merely an extra for those who are able and wish to take part in it.

Congrats on the win and happy new year to everyone.

- Use at least 2 chops from any of the 10 songs provided
quick clarification - does that mean we need to use TWO songs, or is it appropriate to use two chops from one song? (I guess same Q for the special samples too)

And of course, congrats on the win! (landslide victory!)

Also damn, some of these cartoon themes go pretty fkin hard just by themselves! (and are a little disturbing as well haha)

I read it as 2 chops from any of the records, not necessary from two of them. I think that most literal interpretation is correct.

I'm currently working on something with chops from 2 of them anyway though just because I want to. :)

Hey thanks man!

Basically, you need a minimum of 4 chops in total

2 must come from the 'special samples' file

And the other 2 can come from any of the 10 songs (doesn't have to be 2 chops from the same song)

- For example, personally I'm going to use 4 or 5 chops from one song and then a few more chops from a few other songs. So I'll end up sampling at least 3 or 4 songs in the end most probably

Great samples GD!

I used a ton of chops from the Chico Hamilton and Stefano Liberati records as they worked together like a dream, and I used some percussion parts and one shots, along with a vocal sample from the 'special samples' file. (There was some funny stuff in there! :D Being from the UK like GD I recognise all those TV shows from when I was a kid. I will NOT, be flipping Postman Pat though. )
