votes & notes:

joa- I like how different this is and the redman verse works well. the snare is kinda quiet and the bass line is a little muddy
trakmake- mix is quiet. I don't love the melody I feel like it needs some synth chords or something stronger musically
Godall- god vibes. trap drums usually aren't my thing but this works I like the chords and melody it's not amazing but it's good
naturelle- nice vibes similar sample selection to mine but you definitely did more. I'd maybe swing the drums more and dirty it up a bit
mzfk- hip-hop vibes. same sample chop again but also a different flip. I think the bass line could be doing more harmonically to really hammer it home
4. dead- nice melodic vibe. I don't know if the tempo works and maybe the hats should be less swung. I'd try a 16th hat pattern instead of 8th notes
1. super sen- yeah this kinda feels like a record. nice mix and lo-fi vibes. the sax works really well with the chords
reef- def sounds like '94-95. the mix is solid lo-fi vibes and the vocals work well. I don't love the way the melody resolves
hugh- sounds like you just took a stock drum machine loop and randomly needle dropped a record. I have no idea what's happening here
elevated- solid vibes melodically. mix is kinda quiet and pretty lo-fi and muffled. the vocals work but I don't love how they're pitched
dino- vibe is kinda dark and slow. I don't really know if the music fits for a snoop/dre west coast verse. drums could be swung more
nbtbl- little quiet. the hat is kinda piercing. nothing bad here just not really grabbing me at all. again drums could use more swing
goodwill- the 808 drums and the processing on the sax aren't really doing anything for me. I like the synths in the background. more of that and less sax
5. mox- dig the vibey vibes. the drums are hitting but too minimal. could use more hats maybe and chill with the extra kicks. nice melody
dheurt- these drums aren't really hitting and the melody is just too repetitive
farmer- way too experimental. the rhythm and melody are basically non existent
bigfam- dig the melody but the drums aren't hitting. needs a looser feel. where's the bass line
3. ill hack- this hits right out the gate. starting with just the acapella is the right move. love the kick. the shaker is a little too panned. perfect melody for camp lo
2. swoop- this is the vibe. the drums, the bounce, the mix. it's all hitting. could hear more melody like the thing at the end
lil p- perhaps a bit too compressed overall just looking at the waveform. I don't love the melody and the bass line is kinda muddy

tough call between #1 and 2. swoop had the vibe but sen's track just sounds really cohesive. also tight between #3 and 4. dead had the melody but again ill hack's entry just sounds more like a record.

to quote dudesy, "thank you! moving on..."

aight, could you all drop some hints for your easter eggs?

i think i caught a piano chop on illhack's that was different to rest.. i put a comment there.. don't recognize it though.. anyone?

think Wig's outro might be Phill Collins/ Genesis.. commented there too..

that's about all i have so far..

mine is an chorus sang/vocalised by "a couple of guys" on a track by one of the greats of all time from the same era as the guy my acapella is from..

sounds like it's the same aca huh? ;)

Mine is one bar drums from "Eric B and Rakim". The Album is 35Years old...

Was quite clear on the raw flip, but eventually it got a bit lost in the mix. The compressor killed that boomy base...
You can still find that track... Listening to that album is always worth it :)

yoww, thanks for the feedback.. i appreciate it..
like i wrote with my post.. i got the bass from sample where it was layered with other sounds..
i'm definitely gonna try and clean it up more coz i'm curious how it would sound .. although i'm not unpleased with how it is now..
i think the placement in the mix helps
i filtered high out of it and eq'd low into it..
anyone else have tips to get it cleaner?
hmmm, snare are coming through everywhere i listen.. did already add 100 and 200 hz to it but that freq wasn't really there.. so it sounds similar to the hats..
normally i would layer the snare but i was too engrossed by the whole live tapping of the drums etc.

you make some valid points.. so thanks for your opinion(s).. i have to say though, sometimes the highly rated tracks don't always have the feels..
that's just mho ;)

yes, onwards and upwards!

pz bro's!

Edit: replaced the file > non entry.. less muddy bass and layered snare with more low..
