Quick Question:

Are we to make 2 tracks, Can we make 1 with a light and dark side/blend, or may we do one or the other? IN other words, can we opt to make 1 that blends from dark to light (or reverse) or must there be 2 seperate tracks? Can there be a choice between the two options i've presented above? I know its a few days in... the thought just came to mind....
Hope that made sense....

Nice challenge, Elan.

I went with pitched down, shifty depression-thought like sounds for the dark side. Then through a longish, quite jazzy break evolved it to a light side that sounds like busy summer nights. All with a lofi sound. The rules got me out of my comfort zone and I like it.

Hope you guys can relate and enjoy. The flips that were post already are quality again. There's gonna be good stuff on here in 2019.

Peace

Not sure how happy either of these sound but I hope they deliver on the light / shade front. I was going for 2 different sounds from the off and by the end of my process I felt like it was more night into morning / hectic to calm like going out partying and waking up feeling fresh or going out bombing/writing and checking out the spots you hit the next. Sly shout out to GD for revealing this method of recording to me (check out the Santana battle soon)

Hey All, Happy New Years Day! Congrats Elan and cheers Granny! I went with a kind of battle between light and dark. In the first part the army of light assembles. They know they have a grim task ahead but together as one they can triumph. In the second part the army of darkness starts to mass together. They are not chaotic but united under one leader. Nothing will stop the march of darkness over the land cause they have mother fucking dragons man. The light is outmatched and outnumbered but there is always hope that something can tip the scales towards the light.

Peace, Hugh

Managed to get an hour in on the 2500 this afternoon and what better way to kick of 2019 then knocking up something for this weeks battle 8-)

Started off with a kind of light theme before turning it a little darker. The majority of the track was based around chops from the Jean Claude Risset Mutations song as well as chops from the other provided samples. Only used a well known outside vocal sample and some layered drums from a couple of breaks.

Looking forward to hearing what everyone else done for this round 8-)
