The Winning Track

Hi Elvis
Congrats bro!

Can you shortly introduce yourself for our readers? Where are you based? Where does your name come from?

Elvis: YO.. Los Angeles Calif, FirstName+LastName Initials.

Do you make your own pics for your tracks.. usually basketball related right?:

Elvis: It's basically stock art off google and using basic Mac ‘Preview” app to f with it.

what music do you listen to in your free time

Elvis: Whatever sounds dope , smoke-worthy.

How did you learn to make beats?

Elvis: Everything self taught, bought reason back in 05’ and just constantly tryna mess/expermient with sounds since then.

What Equipment or software (DAW, VST’s etc) did you use on this track?

Elvis:Reason DAW, KorgNanoStudio, Mouse.

What was your approach to get started?

Elvis: The challenge rule was to use Only Percussion for the Battle, in the newer version of reason theres “Klang tuned percussion instrument” device. Opened that up, and set tempo to 160 or so.

How did you flip/make use of the sample?

Elvis: Large chucks of the sample are in the beat as well as small bits that are time stretched and pitched up n down and played rhythmically .

Are there any interesting aspects about the track you’d like to share?

Elvis I only sat down 1 time to make this beat, and it took about 5 hours. Towards the end I said to myself, “I have to sleep now.”

Ah, cool man, the title of the track!
Thanks for shedding some light ElvisJC

pz Joa
